Happy is having some problem with one of her eye. There seem to be another layer of skin growing and is almost wrapping up her whole eyeball. Had brought her to Dr Ling and she said that this is rare and this is the first time she saw this. She checked her book and reverted that this is called conjunctieal hyperplasia. She say that when the layer of skin grow and cover the whole eyeball, there will be no treatment. Thus she advise Happy to go for the operation to cut back the layer of skin and wait for the animal eye specialist to come to Singapore in April. But this is the first time that Dr Ling is doing this kind of operation and it might scar Happy. There are veins and atery in that layer of skin thus it means lots of bleeding. Right now i am waiting to see if Happy can wait for the specialist and is montering her conditions everyday and if the skin is really growing too fast, i will have to rush her to Dr Ling for the operation. No eye drops nor medicine helps now. Email the specialist for advise but no reply leh Anyone have any knowledge on this diagnosis? The name of the disease was given to me by Dr Ling but i cannot find any actual findings in the internet...thus not sure if she had given me the correct spelling...

miracle > i have been reading up about eye problems in general (for humans and pets). i realised that quite a few eye problems are caused by infection or allergy. and some started from nose allergy (ie. snuffles). i dunno if happy got that too. 'cause i remember u alw mention that ur bunnies alw got wet nose. need u to give more info about them then i can find out more about it. anyway, try reading this... www.rabbitnetwork.org/articles/past.shtml see if it's similar to what happy experienced. anyway, it's called conjunctival hyperplasia. but u cant find anything using that. can try conjunctivitis, conjunctiva and all. try search for ONLINE MEDICAL DICTIONARY. try look for definition of conjunctival and hyperplasia. u'll see a lot of very CHIM names mostly related to eyes 1. will continue to read more when i'm free. so worried about happy.

Thanks alot for all the info .... Happy do not have running nose leh...is Cookie..but i had read up alot regarding eyes condiiton too....but nothing similar to it... I am monitering her conditions now and the skin is still growing but yet to cover up the whole eyeball...i am thinking of dragging it as long as i can..and wait for the specialist in April...but if the skin is growing to fast....then i will send her for the operation....but i have doubts leh Dr Ling has not done such op. before....might leave a clear...and might even risk her life as it is a op...although Happy had been sterilised and she is not allergy to the medicine...it cant mean that she will not this time round.... First time Dr Ling is doing such op. thus she no experience in this leh..and what if excessive bleeding as there are blood vessels...and most prob will scar her too... Or do you think is better just to let it be? The only thing is that Happy's vision for that eye will be affected...blurred cos got a layer of skin covering over her eyeball...

it's better to ask dr ling whether u should leave it alone or go for op. tell her ur worries lor. i think dr ling has been discussing with other vets about happy's problem. any op sure got risk 1 lor. puppy just went for another surgery to remove some of his incisors. though dr ling done it b4, there's still risk 'cause she said that might break jaw while pulling out. usu bunnies wont be allergic to the anaesthesia 1 lor. i'm just worried that the infection if left untreated, might affect other parts of body / another eye. if just 1 eye blind, maybe still ok lor. it's better to check with dr ling lah. 'cause only she knows what happy is suffering from. wonder if dr ling can take some of the samples from happy's eyes for culture and sensitivity test to see what bacteria is causing it. i think u really need to talk to dr ling about all these. 'cause cant find anything from web at all.

I got a good news and a bad news.... Good news is...Dr Stanley..the specialist finally replied my email.... Bad news is...he aslo say that this is a very unusual case and he will be forwarding this case to another friend of his who specialise in rabbits...and they will dicuss abt it before reverting... For now...he said that surgery is unrewarding for such condition and it will cause scaring and the condition will not improve...unless a very good job done..which means that noone here is able to do it....thus he dun recommend surgery at this stage...

miracle > did he say what's the cause of it? i guess for now, just leave it lor. wait for the specialist to reply. see how. look on bright side. at least u got reply and he's forwarding to another specialist who knows more about bunnies. at least if really need surgery, they know how to deal with it with less difficulties. do keep us updated still...

how is happy right now? haiz..such agony.. waiting for reply. i think maybe they all discussing about it. i dun think dr ling can discuss with a lot of vets here in singapore cos there isnt that many vets who are good with rabbits. and the equipment n medications we have here for bunnies n their problems are quite insufficient.
