www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid95/pdcc0bdf8d8555a7b5cceed5d7692db51/fa2fc92e.jpg [/img] I've decide to give my Coll 2 of the 3 above bunnies which is 5.5 mths old....the one on the right & the one in the middle....kind of worry for em tho....jus hope everything will go jus fine....& they are all male.... Will be rehoming them by this week....i went to my friend' house & realise the younger batch of babies are not weaned yet & it'll be too risky for the new owner who has no experince in bunnies to take in too young bunnies...so i've decide to let my coll's family have the more older bunnies instead....i'll ask my friend to standby too in case my coll half way thru don't want the bunnies....haiz.... The bunnies are feeding solely on Pellets....& some veges, like cucumbers, carrots & vege....the brand of the pellets are from Hagen, called Rabbit Lapins, costing around $6 per 2.27 kg each pack....no hay was given to the bunnies....according to what my friend tells me,they got sick after eating hay....so she gave up on hay & their main diet are pellets & some vege as mentioned above.... My feelings now.....worried.....cos the bunnies are such cute & friendly animals....now have to go live in a different enviroment....i'll be giving em(my coll) a copy of what i print out from HRSS on buunies's diet & will be giving em a few packs of the pellets, may be giving em some cucumbers too as they(the bunnies) seems to like cucumbers a lot....& will be constantly going to my coll's place for the next 2 months to make sure the 2 bunies are in Good Hands....haiz.... Btw,how often do one wash & clean the bunny cage...is bedding neccessary? How to toilet train em?hmmm.....

hi ghost litter training is an extensive topic, too lengthy to cover. below are some general litter training topics for your friend to start with; www.hrss.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=671www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/litter.htmlwww.rabbit.org/journal/3-12/litter-training-revisited.htmlsome of us change the litterpan every 3-4 days and some 1 week and it also depends on how much the bunnies pee and poo. if alot, then have to change more frequently. as for washing of cage, not that often (maybe 1 every 2 mth? personal preference) but cleaning and disinfecting the cage can be done once every one or two weeks. becos some beddings have odor control and absorbancy features, some of us prefer to use beddings. again it's personal preference. but if u do not use beddings, u muz be prepared to change the litter pan every day cos it will stink. cucumber is not in the list of recommended veggies for rabbits, pls stop feeding them that. also, i've never heard of bunnies getting sick after eating hay. hay is a VERY important part of their diet, pls ask your coll to try to feed them hay again. the pellets (hagen) is too salty and their urine now should be creamy col (if i'm not wrong). a healthy bunny urine should be clear teh-o style (doesn't matter if it ranges from pale to dark yellow). 1/3 carrot to be fed twice a week only, NOT everyday. there are alot of green veggies in the market that can be fed to the bunnies. btw, any fights among the 5.5 male bunnies?

Just check out on the bunnies's urine....all bunnies urine are normal, except the mother.....which is a little yellow milky.....hmm....thanks for the link,sanz....will check out the given site u mentioned above soon.... Glad to say that there are no fights among the bunnies....heard that they are super friend....hehehe....as for cucumber, the 3 bunny above was fed a mix of vege(leafy vege) all their life....& they seems to love their cucumbers tho....hmm....now u say it....think i'd better stop....what are the brand of hay u recommened for bunnies that are 5.5 months old....?? Think i'd stick to the pellets they are having now,cos the bunny will be changing enviroment soon....don't want to stress them too much...have been trying to make future plans for the bunnies too....& me'll be going serang nth this thursday with the owner to buy their stuffs....having been thinking a lot fr the bunnies this few days....like what to buy & if they'll get used to it to their new enviroment....mmm.....stress ar..... I've postpone the adoption again to next thursday(15/01/03) & the owner & me will personally deliver the bunnies to my coll's place....check out the things there, give em the manual i've print out from the website regarding the food to the buns & teach em basics on how to handle & take care of the bunnies....& my advice given to em is most problably the same advice i received here....& i'll also be checking the bunnies at my coll's place around once a month, jus to make sure for the next 6 months, they are in good hands.....really going to be tiring.....phew.... ;D I tried to get all the required stuffs & proper advice by this week & then tranfer em to my coll as much as possible....don't want to make it too difficult either or it'll scare the new owner..... Think me really kiasu....i always imagine the animals that are adopted is myself....& i'm so kiasu that i'm actually also looking for another adopter in case my coll half way thru don't wan the bunnies anymore.... Think i'll ask them to cleanup the cage once every 5 days....

ghost,it has been discussed extensively about litter training so perhaps u can look for related topics here in GT.... about the brands of hay,i think it has been said tt the brand doesnt really matter, there are some reputable brands n they have been given on previous pages of this thread.. there are different types of hay and not all brands carry all the different types...but as long as there is sufficient fibre content n the bunnies like it,its ok. and also make sure hay is given all day long....hay NEVER causes any sickness so i dun kno how it is ur fren came to tt conclusion.Hagen pellets while they are cheap is VERY high in protein n low in fibre. if u dun wanna stress the bunnies out by changing their diet,u can start changing the pellets slowly by mixing in a new type of pellets. And i do recommend a change cos the bunnies are already 5.5 months old....they will b needing lesser protein now so its good if u can start changing to another pellets. timothy based ones...
