the first two weeks the cat will be miserable...but thereafter, she will know the family loves her and it is safe to be in the house. My case, after taking in rubberband, she meowed pitifully and grow weary, but after a few weeks, she is quite happy to stay with me. Sleep on my feet and my laps every night.....grrrrr....cannot even move when I am sleeping. Used to be she would try to escape everytime we open the door, now I can open the door and she also dun wanna go out liao. She just stare at the open door and never move her butt.

She just stare at the open door and never move her butt. for us, we actu decided to convert a room for her to stay. cannot let her roam around the place 'cause our dogs roam around the whole house. intend to make the room as interesting as possible so meowmeow wont feel so bored. for meowmeow, she has a BIG attitude prob. when she's in good mood, she'll allow us to play with her. we hope she wont throw tantrum when we bring her home. tried to lure her into the carrier, she see the carrier then run away. i guess got phobia b4. worst still, bf and i got no experience in keeping cats at all. if she throws tantrum, we also dunno wat to do. now we are trying to catproof the place. scared she destroy the whole room.

they dont bite like cats, but they do scratch. give her a door mat, remove suff with soft surface from the room.
Windows so long as she cannot sneak out will do.... cat proofing is certainly easier than bunny proofing the room.
Better choose to bring her home on Fri, this way can spend 2 days with her. First 2 days, in fact the whole 2 weeks, she will need alot of reassuring.

rubberband is very tame and gentle. she followed me home so no need to catch her. The time I force her into the carrier is to bring her to see vet. She was afraid after she got home...some more I go and spray frontline on her. She wander off for half a day (she was a stray then) but in the afternoon, she come back to my house to play with me... and I was totally forgiven. first 2 wks of confinement rubberband was very unhappy, but now she is so settled in she did not even go out when door is open.

Brought back alot of sweet memories of when rubberband was a stray. The moment I called her, she will literally run towards me, followed me everywhere and gazed at the life sadly when I went home. The one day, some fierce stray cat came and bullied rubberband. I called her name and ran together with her to safty, that's when she totally trust me to protect her and went whereever I go. From that experience, i know she can take the stairs well and one day i walked her up the stairs to my house. From that day onwards, she would come visit daily. She used to be very weary, of both people, cats, cars...everything. She would want to run at the slightest sound. Now she is gaining her confidence and can sleep soundly even when there is strange noise or I shift on the bed. She know she is safe in my house. I still think if you love her so much, no harm putting her in the carrier by force. Cats really know who love them and they do not bear grudges for long. Same as rabbits.
