1. Get a hamster cage.(Plus Food tray,Water Bottle)
2.Get some Hamsters Mix.(i am using Habitrail)
3. Get a hamsters ball for your ham to run outside.
4.Hamsters Bathsand, like Minimal or Wild brand are all suitable.
5. If you got the time, make some toys for them to play with.
6. Feed them twice a day, sand bath them once a week when you are cleaning their cage.
7. Play with them once a day.
8. Love your hamsters!

The above number 1 to number 8 listed are basics of Adopting a hamster,as for treats it should be given sparingly and should not be more than 20 % of the hamsters main diet.
To me fresh food like vege and fruits are considered treats.I don't know about the others.

Hmmz better not give hammies too much vege/fruits in case they get diarrhoea.
I dunno how much is alot. But being a very cautious person, I give them half a leaf of xiao bai cai each. For carrots, I gave them one 0.5cm slice lor... kekeke..
I used to rear GP too. And I really gave him a lot of vege. But for hammies, u have to control cos hammies are so much smaller.

Veges should be fed gradually. As your hams get used to them then u can feed it more on a daily basis. I noticed feeding more of vegs and all really improves fur shine and general body shape and all. Bcos i had 2 at my mums house. she feeds them more mix and seldom vegs. while in my other house i feed more vegs.. Over time i noticed those at my house had better fur shine and was more lively. Eyes shiny. But feed in moderation everytime. And feed in variety! Examples cheap ones. Corn (pump body the healthy way), carrot, cucumber, tau geh, chrysanthemum (dry ones your mum uses to make the drink), gou zi qi (mulberry i tink? not sure.. the one always added to chicken soup, not red dates). more unique stuffs would be basil leaves(buy at cold storage), mint (cold storage or grow your own), green bean flower (tried once while growing my green beans.. my hams took it with glee. But not sure really can or not) alfafa, wheat grass

ya didn't i said give gradually? don't believe me check out www.petwebsite.com and i feed them all these while without any problems. In fact they look better. But it is your personal view.. so each to its own decisions. its up to the owner to decide.

Bo bian, today go grab a "self-packed" Nutriblock which i suspect has expired from QF....cos i run out of it...remeber i bought the pack of nutri-block last time & gave Animosity half a pack....hehehe...till yesterday then my hams finish em,hehehe....

Ghost, remember not to feed your hamsters with Sharp-edged nutri-block as when you break it,it may leave behind sharp-edges that may pierce the hamster's cheek pounches.I heard this from peewee on one of the thread.
