Hi Ghost,
Sorry to hear your bad experience and sorry that I didn't notice this thread at the time when you needed help most.....
You are not the only person that has bad experience with vet emergency. Bunnylover juz had a bad one recently when her bunny was almost dying aleady. What we considered emergency is nothing in the eyes of vet maybe. Or perhaps we are too paranoid?
As for 24 hrs vet clinic, I think Mt Pleasant Clinic at Whitley open 24 hrs but after 12 midnite, the vets are not there but they are on standby. Should anyone need emergency service, the vet will go down.
And also, established clinic with lots of clientele are not able to provide "good" service as they are always overbooked with appts. We now tried new clinic like Bishan Park vet clinic. Usually can get appt very easily. The vet is not bad also.

Ya ghost, you can try Bishan Park vet. I've tried Dr Cathy Chan's services, and she seems professional. Another thing, do you know that James Tan Veterinary Hospital has a bad reputation? I'm not passing tales here. They were the ones featured in the papers, 1 or 2 years ago. They cremate animals on a BBQ grill, and even mix the ashes up. So owners who asked them to cremate their pets, actually may not be getting the right ashes of their own pets. They were fined and the case was published in the papers.
The illegal part is that the hospital is not supposed to just cremate animal bodies like that in open air, if I'm not wrong. Something to do with polluting the environment. They were charged by Singapore's environmental authority I think. But they were not charged for handling the animal bodies this way. However, the pet owners were very angry when they found out what the hospital did.
The way they cremate is that they burn a few bodies at a time, over the BBQ grill, that's how the ashes are mixed up. Plus, it's extremely disrespectful! That's the part that drove pet owners up the wall. They wld pay the hospital a few hundred dollars to do the cremation, not knowing that their beloved pets were being BBQed to ashes. I think the hospital said that this was done due to the limited resources they had. They can't afford a cremation oven of course. Anyway, I remember James Tan cos of it. Pls try another vet instead.
And Mount Pleasant has a poor reputation for treating dogs. The dog mailing list is full of complaints about them. You can ask pple on the dog mailing list.

Ghost, you should call me instead of posting here and there.. You still have my number right ?? My phone is switch ON 7 days a week and 24 hrs a day.....
I have a VERY bad experience too recently - my Baby's case. It's really not an emergency case in the eyes of vets, but I have to witness my own baby's breath getting lesser and lesser, weaker and weaker and yet I can't do anything to make her alive......... So hurt, you know.

Maybe we can set up a "emergency call" service at GT? Am thinking can have it at the "notice/announcement" section or a totally new section called "emergency call"
So for members who are in need of urgent help like what ghost faced before, can put the posting there and we won't miss out the call. It can be for any matter of emergency and for any kind of animals. And when the emergency is over, we can then move the thread to the respective section. Leaving the emergency section clear and uncluttered.
Cos, honestly I don't read all the section in GT cos too many to read.

Hey Ghost, sorry i missed out on this thread.its not easy to read all the posts every night. Next time if u need help like this, should call/sms us loh.
Hope baobao will be fine. Poor lil one.
regarding Namly, perhaps u can call and make a big fuss and what u hear is what the receptionists say? Maybe u can request to talk to Dr Ling and explain to her that u think its an emergency and u can only trust her to take a look at baobao? perhaps she will try to fit u in. She is very detailed and careful with hamsters as well..she doesnt discriminate like every other vet, there was once she was lecturing this lil girl who brought in her pet cat that was seriously ill..she said "Next time if u think ur cat is sick,u should bring her in immediately and not try to self medicate like this. U could kill the poor cat. Every animal is important and every illness should be taken seriously. Its ur responsibility." maybe not exact words but soemthing like tt.
otherwise, like wat cottontail said,u can try the one in bishan. I heard that its pretty good tho i have never been there.

Cottontail/Clover, is the vet at Bishan Park good with hamsters too? If Dr Ling is on leave or when they r fully booked, I can go to that vet. There was once when Dr Ling was on leave and I didn't want to see another vet. So I delayed the visit by one day. My hamster died on the day he was supposed to go to the vet. His problem was merely overgrown tooth... tot he could've been treated if I sought help earlier.
Ghost, you should've just called/sms any of us. Those frequent customers from Namly Clinic could've help u to call the clinic up to book an emergency appt. I believe most of us have the numbers of a few members here. So the network could be established . Just like if you sms me, I dunno, i can help u to sms another person to ask.
Cottontail's suggestion is great. I think there should be an emergency thread for ALL ANIMALS. And erm... should we maybe warn other members of some clinics with bad reputation?

Not too sure if Dr Cathy Chan is good with Hamsters or not. But she had done few complicated bunny cases for Bunnylover. I think she should be able to treat small animals as well cos she really loves animals.
She even bother to rescue a bunny and help to foster the bunny at her clinic. The famous stray dog at Bishan park is now taking her clinic as his day home. Ya, the dog really goes in to her clinic to sleep in the day and enjoy the a/c. And this dog never disturb customers, just rest there quietly. But then there were a few occasion that AVA came to cull him and he ran to Bishan HDB estate and the AVA guy got no stamina to chase. AVA want to cull him becos ppl who visited the park complained lor. I asked Dr Chan to adopt the dog but she can't becoz her own dog can't get along with this stray dog.

Bunnylover >> Thanks...but it's really late at night when i realise my hamster urgency to see a vet....feel paiseh to call pls ta such wee hours lei....i'll rather pay the vet & venge my anger & anxiety on him/her instead,hahaha.... Cottontail >> No worries,friend...when i have an emergency like this,i tend to look for answers in forums, especially my own...which i came into every day/night....this incident has allow me to know the weakness of this forum being NOT "informative enough" during an emergency.....& i will soon....make up for this lost.... Btw,thanks for the additional informations on the Vets.... Bubblez >> I don't blame anyone at Namly la....& i also know hamsters are often taken as "2nd class" animals/pets....where pple have the tendency to jus dump it when the hams outlast their usefulness as pets to entertain their owner....Thanks for the well-wished....BaoBao's condition is still not very stable yet tho....& i'm having sleepless night becos of this guy...i also hope he can get well soon too.... HighHeels >> Hmm....i'm now planning on this emergency section that Cottontail has suggested....& the Petshop section has an additional Vet wording just besides it....so that section will be use for both Petshops & Vets discussion....got a bad/good encounters in any Petshops or Vets...members can jus put their thread here to share with the others.... Cottontail >> I believe any Vets who loves animals will surely make good vets....
