Oooh, I missed this 2 events. I was sent an email abt them too. Umm, generally, I think that alaskans are actually more mild and calm than huskies. It's their character bred into them. Huskies are more hyper. When my bf was looking for a dog, I recommended an alaskan, cos I liked their size and that they are 'gentle giants'. But my stubborn bf wanted a husky instead. Haiz. So he bought one. We actually went to Pick A Pet to view a female alaskan. Very pretty and lovely dog. Argh, but my bf want husky. Then, we went out to one of the dog shows, met an alaskan. My bf loved it. That one was very nice, plus, it was very calm and sweet. His own husky was skittish and jumping on smaller dogs, while the alaskan just sit there and smile at him. I got to pat it alot. He just lie there and let me pat his head. Then I had the chance to say, "I told you so." lolz He was very impressed with the nature of the alaskan, but he still love his husky la. Stupid dog. Argh. Anyway, these 2 dogs have a generally similar appearance, but their natures are quite different. Hehehe, too bad I can't keep one too! But I got my own fat Titch bolster to love also.

Cos my bf going off to work, so must wake up early for breakfast and to see him off. After that, I log online. That's why I alwiz sleep so early. lolz Opposite of some of you, alwiz sleep so late and wake up so late ah... Hehe...

hmm are a alaskan's personality same as a husky? headstrong and like dont really listen to instructions unless it wants to? bcos i was reading a book about huskies and they were stating that temperament wise huskies tend to be very independent and depend on own judgement. bcos hor like when the musher want to mush to the right den the huskies sensing that mushing to the right is going straight to death rite. den the huskies will heck care and go towards the left. the musher will be d**n grateful lor bcos the huskies juz saved him from death. i would expect a alaskan malamutes to be quite independent and depend on on judgement also since they are also sledding dogs but for a heavier load lar. but maybe they tend to be less active?

I dunno whether they are less active. But only from what I saw, alaskans have a more calm temperament. You know temperament in dogs? Certain breeds exhibit a certain reaction to the same situation. They may not all react in the same way, in different breeds. But I agree that both huskies and alaskans shld be trained with a firm hand.
