u may like to check out at the pet shops for a kind of spray you can use to prevent fleas, ticks, mites and such... symptoms usually include the pet shuddering or jumping around (not like rabbits in a happy way ), and it happens suddenly, sometimes can see the cavy scratching itself behind its ears.

hi....well i can anyone tell me how to prevent from my GP getting fleas.....how to kill all the fleas.....wat is the symthoms of having fleas..... Are u refering to mites? Try putting your pig under a light source and see if you see any black dots on his fur. It is more visible on white fur.

Also, a monthly shower is good. There is a flea & tick spray for small animals, brand is 8in1. I use that every month before baths to prevent mites and it works quite well for me

Ok those black spots r mites and if not treated, they will cause your pet to itch and scratch a lot and thus loose hair eventually. Ok great now u got the spray.. it is not a miracle spray so this is wat u gotta do. Bathe your pig every 2 weeks from now, and each time before bath, spray the 8in1 solution onto his fur and massage and rub it in for about 15mins. Next shampoo off. Do this for about a month or so, and it should get better. Try this method first, if it doesn't work then bring him to a vet. The vet will jab Ivermectin , 3 jabs, one shot every 2 weeks so u will have to bring him there a couple of times. Hope that helps

Bcoz we aren't suppose to bathe our pigs too often, so prob a month will be a good gauge. Ermm no i dun think they will jump to you. dun worry Make sure beddings is clean too

Sometimes i use sawdust but its not absorbent.. for more info on breeders choice maybe u can refer to this thread rusty.proboards6.com/index.cgi?board=product&action=display&n=1&thread=1048241561
