For chins, actually dun really need to groom. A dust bath abt twice a week is enough. It's possible to comb their fur with a very fine tooth comb, but must train them to be still. They tend to fidget alot. I dun comb mine often, but when I do, need my bf around to help me hold. Cos I can't hold and comb at the same time.
Yes, the chin I really like is called Phantom. He lives at the Lavender St branch now I think. Previously, he was moved abt often. He stayed at the Thomson branch for a while, then they moved him back to the Lavender one. I visit him sometimes, but not very often. I scared the staff recognise me, alwiz go and see him only, haha.
Actually, just chinproof 1 room is enough. Then can let the chins run around in tat room. For me, I keep my floor windows closed cos of my cat, Chloe. So it's not a problem to let my chins run around. They'll hide here and there, but sooner or later, can catch them and put them back after an hour or so.

petslover > i also dun know why my friend left the window open... think maybe he didnt expect the chin to jump so high... clover > looks like chins are easier to maintain than long fur bunnies... but can u carry them on ur hand, or even trance them, since they tend to fidget alot? if let bunnies out for run, also need to rabbitproof the place... what do chins like to bite? wires, wood, paper,... also? my bunnies also love to hide when i let them roam around upstairs (ie all the rooms and toilets). and they'll usually hide in my bro's room. but when i call them, they'll appear just like that, sometimes giving me a shock. is it true that chins are more interactive than bunnies?

for rabbits hor, u can scold them but cannot sound fierce. find that they'll tend to rebel even more. usually i give a stern firm "NO" then i carry them and explain to them why "NO"... just like talking to kids lor... must reason out with them... then lastly, end with a hug and kiss... clover > how u train ur chins?

Chinchillas can be trained and tamed alot. My Snowball is so tame that when we stuck our hands inside the cage, he'll jump on to our hands and wait for us to carry him out. He especially loves my bf. For me, he'll consider for a while first before jumping on. lolz He likes humans alot and readily takes treats from us. As for trancing them, I'm not sure, but I think it's rather difficult. Cos chins are naturally active. They dun like to stay still. Snowball, even though he's very tame, won't stay still longer than 10 min in our arms. He wants to run amok and play. But I've seen chinchillas do tricks. There was this guy at a pet shop, he taught his chin to stand up, to beg and to answer to his name. I'm sure they can be taught more tricks. Actually, my chins dun really chew stuff when they are out. Cos I leave my wires on the floor and I dun cover stuff up, so they actually can chew alot. But they don't. I also dunno why. I'm not very experienced with bunnies, so I dunno how to compare them with chinchillas. Chinchillas can jump very high and very well. I know of one chin, who actually jumped from the top of a cupboard. However, that's way too high. The chin was injured and passed away. I also know another chin, sitting on a counter that reaches up to my neck that height. So it's maybe abt 140cm? Or maybe 150cm. I saw him leap off the counter smoothly, land on the floor and dash off to play. He is Wewe, one of Pet Kingdom's house pets. I got to play with him a bit once. He also knows how to do tricks. Once, I saw him playing with the sales guy. The guy threw him into the air again and again and again. And caught him each time. And Wewe just let him throw. He almost touched the ceiling. The chinchilla was not afraid. Training chins is a bit like training dogs I think. As in, the use of treats. They love working for treats. They will obey and do something in exchange for a treat, but you have to get them to understand what you wan in the first place. For me, I never teach my chins to do tricks, but they do know their names. Cos when I yell a name, that one will stare at me. lolz Either that or they were shocked by my voice. Haha. Most chin owners only bathe chins in sand, but if the chin becomes very dirty eg. pee stains on a white coat, it might need a water bath. Bathing chins in water is possible, but drying is the difficult part. Cos you must watch them and make sure they're completely dry. And you can't use a hairdryer cos it's too hot for them. Some pp use fan, but you must be careful, else your chin may catch cold. It's quite difficult to balance, and it's possible to lose your chin if you do it wrongly. Some chin owners argue abt whether it's necessary. I think it really depends on the situation. I do know pp who bathe their chins regularly, like once in 2 months. But they're very careful abt it.
