My first male chinchilla was a silver white from Park Chinchilla (I never bought another chin from them ever again). He passed away from heat prostration in 2000. Although he was skittish, he was a very handsome fellow and I miss him.
His mate is Slappy and I'm sure she went through a bad time after his death. He actually died not long after his son, Spider, was born. I still have Slappy and Spider. Slappy is a confirmed widow. Any attempts to introduce her a new mate are met with fierce resistance from her, so I've given up. But she is content just living with Spider and being a widow.
I hope my silver white male is ok wherever he is now.
