Most chin owners provide pumice blocks for chewing. The grey colour, hard cube ones. I give my chins that and normal wood chews also.

Ho.. where can I get the pumice block?
I put the toliet paper roller (those hard and big) into the cage and he stops all the chewing and play with it. Think he muz be too bored. Have to find some toys for him.
Juz now I bought a artificial-dog-bone for MaoMao too. Can he chew it too?

Umm, I dun think it's the one for our feet. lolz You can get them at most Chinchilla shops. I alwiz get mine from Pet Kingdom. Carrefour pet section has it also, but they sell it in a box instead of per cube. I'm using Sunseed brand. It lasts very long, for years, for each cube. I see my chins playing with it sometimes, rolling it here and there and using it as a seat.
I also give one to Bunbun, my bunny. She also treats it as a toy.
As for the dog bone, I think it depends on the type of material it's made of. In my personal opinion, pls avoid raw hides and nylon. These are not a usual part of a chin's diet, and chewing will inevitably result in swallowing. I have no idea if this will wreak havoc in a chin's digestive system. Why dun you check with a good small animals vet? But I wldn't try it out myself, without seeking medical advice first.

hi,
i would like to share with you regarding the block which you used for your chin.
Other than this pumic block, i bought a mineral block for him to gnaw and chew which contains different type of minerals like iron etc.
From my own opinion, i think mineral block is better as it contains many type of mineral and it cost less than $4 for 2 blocks in a pack.

I'm not quite sure about the material made for the "dog- bone" but then MaoMao dun chew it at all. Maybe itz too hard for him. But he likes to play around with new things. Will source for the Pumice block as mention in Carrefour. Thanks for the info gals I got a mineral bar. Actually thats for my hamster to gnaw however they seldom use it. Okie... I think I'll clean it and give to MaoMao I really got the headache on the wire mesh I used. I place it on the base of the cage to prevent MaoMao getting leg fracture. At the bottom of the cage I also place the newpaper on the tray that aborb the liquid waste. This MaoMao... every night I saw him chewing the plastic type wire mesh and reach the newpaper. He tear it and think he did swallow abit. Now I got to source for metal type of wire mesh ....

When I gave it to Bunbun, she didn't play with it at first, but I left it in her cage. After a few days, I saw her using her nose to butt the block and move it around her cage. She also put her front paws on it sometimes, but not often. Mostly I see her pushing it here and there, like re-arranging furniture. Haha. The block costs $3 plus for 1. I normally buy 2 or 3 at one go and keep the extra.
