Yes, it was a painful experience. For those days, I was itchy and had rashes. When my room was fumigated, everything had to be washed in strong chemicals. My soft toys, my bed sheets, my quilt, the stuff in my cupboard. Everything. For my dog, I didn't use tick bath on her. My groomer told me to use Frontline. All the ticks died and dropped off by themselves within a week after applying spot on. That's a really convenient alternative to the bath. I'm not promoting this product, but many dog owners use it. But I know some dog owners who dislike using chemical insecticides on their dogs, so they use a natural oil spray they make themselves. It's like this, the spray includes: Eucalyptus Citronella Lavender Pine (I think?) Distilled water Sorry I can't remember the 4th oil, I have to check it up. But they get these 4 essential oils and mix it with distilled water. Then they keep it in a spray and spray it on the dog once a week or when they bring doggy out to play (but dun spray everyday). They say it keeps insects away (ticks, fleas, mosquitoes) and smells very nice. And it's all natural also. Frequent bathing is a preventive, but it's not foolproof. It depends on how thorough the owner is in cleaning the dog. My dog and my bf's dog bathes weekly, but Tiara gets grooming checks daily. It's done by my bf's sister. She actually found ticks on Tiara once. Only a few, but I'm sure they came from their garden, as they live on landed property. My bf knows abt my previous tick infestation, so he immediately got the Frontline Spot On for Tiara. She's on it now, plus Heartguard. But I think he'll want to try other brands of spot on after this one finishes. Currently, she's got no ticks at all. My dog also.

well, here's an update... i went to dr ling last week, and checked on the flea thingy.. well, there is a jab which is used on the infected doggy, and it kills all the fleas on it, but the injection is not for preventive measures, but for use to remove fleas and ticks. Price range from $5-25, can go higher if it is a big doggy Then, there is the flea bath I was mentioning in previous thread, when the doggy needs to be soaked in a bath tub of flea killing solution for a few hours, and then the dead fleas/ticks and picked off one by one. The cost for that is about $60 - 120 For preventive measures, one can rely on many brands on the market. Whilst frontline is good, Dr Ling mentioned that Revolution is better, lasts longer. Recently, I have come across another product which is call Bio Spot On for dogs and cats.. Price quite reasonable abt $9 - 21 and the application lasts for 3 months. Please IM for more details on Bio Spot On...
