that time my dad found a mixed poodle. also about knee height. very guai. follow everywhere we go. never bark 1... even in car, she also sit quietly... never move around 1. then we bathe her. then i found many VERY BIG ticks on her body. really VERY BIG... so we pulled out the ticks... think that really hurt her a lot. then she start barking and want to attack us. so bo bian, after pulling out a few, we decided to lock her in bathroom 'cause she's starting to become very aggressive. think must be VERY painful. imagine the tick is about 0.7cm diameter. then she starts crying and whining in the bathroom. wants to come out. she thought we are going to torture her or something like that. feel so bad. actually wanted to calm her down. but to no avail. so bo bian. we let her out and brought her to the private properties. let her go. but she kept following my dad, when he's walking back home. so sweet hor? think now the poodle belongs to one of the owners in private properties. kind of miss her...

Wondering if there is any less painful mthods to get rid of ticks.....i can imagine how poor thing that doggie is....wonder how it'll affect the life of a doggie if the ticks r not taken off tho.....

'cause have to hold his body (that means have to touch the ticks)... yucks... then after that, have to use flea brush to scrap out all the ticks... oh god!!! really disgusting and gross ah... me and another gal do liao hor, whole day dun feel like eating anything... that stray dog i found, the ticks though not so many, but they are REALLY very big... same size as the brown beetle... yucks!!!! think the owner will bring her to vet for jab to remove the ticks lah... hope so though...

think the jab will go to the blood stream, then the ticks will just fall off after a while... something like that... not too sure... must ask daniel about this... think he's more expert in this...

Oh, I try and offer some help here. Cos I can tell you all that I once had a tick infestation in my home. It was so bad that the ticks were biting me! I had to have my home fumigated by a pest control person. My dog is on frontline now, and for now, no tick problem. Last time, before stuff like frontline etc, I was taught that use tweezers or alcohol to remove the ticks. Cos must be very careful to remove the entire tick, if the small head is left on the bite, it can get infected. This is quite important lor. Then also, foolproof way to kill ticks is to drown them or burn them. Dun just squeeze and throw, cos sometimes that doesn't work. It's a really good bet to purchase spray and spot on products for the dog. Frontline, Haartz and got some other brands you can use. Revolution is also good, but more expensive. I'm afraid I dunno much abt the injections cos that's not the method I use. Good luck.

Yes, the larger ones are the females. All the males are the small brown ones. Those who are very big are close to the time where they'll lay their eggs. They will have a last blood meal and then crawl somewhere and die. Then the babies will come out. For me, my place was so bad I cld see them crawling up my white walls.
That's why must take drastic action, call pest control. Yes, it's painful, but I think if add alcohol, then use the tweezers, it might help a bit. It'll disinfect the wound and the alcohol shld help to loosen the tick.
