Cottontail, I dunno where my bf found the bun, din ask him exactly where. He told me he saw 2 younger black bunnies running at another part of Bishan too. He tried to catch them but they were too fast for him.
There are definitely too many abandon buns... cos I think my rescued Bun will be abandoned soon again... my bf's parents scolded+shouted+hurled vulgarities at him+threatened him with so many things yesterday. Feel that they are inhuman!
Is there anywhere I can send the rabbit to without having to put it to sleep? She is really very tamed. Can hold without struggle, wun bite wire, dare to roam around, etc. I feel so relieved and easy handling her being a first timer. Really feels that she is a special kind.

Please, please, do not set her free at the park again. It doesn't make her free... it makes her food.
Ask around if any friends can adopt this bunny. If really no choice, the best option is still to send it to SPCA. There is no perfect place in Singapore where they can take in unlimited nos. of animals without having to put any of them to sleep. There is no "NO KILL" Shelter here.
If this bunny is healthy and young, it would stand a good chance to be rehomed at SPCA. Even if they have to be put down humanely, it is better than having it suffers in fear, hunger and coldness in the wild.

Cottontail, I doubt I will set it free in the parks. I understand that she can't survive by herself.
Issit possible for me to send her to HRSS? Dunno if HRSS has any shelther... but I went into their webby before. Saw that they have this scheme where volunteers will help to foster the bunnies first before anyone comes to adopt her. Or do they have any shelters for bunnies?
I went SPCA before and saw that the buns they kept are usually very clean, tidy and well behaved. Or if not, the buns are of good breed. Mine is just a local with dirty underneath. So I am afraid that most likely she will be put to sleep.
I am wondering if HRSS will adopt her and dun put her to sleep. Instead wait for a good owner to come along to adopt her.

Hi Highheel,
HRSS does not run a shelter. All bunnies that they take in are fostered by volunteers. Most of the time the foster parents home are taken up and usually they will require the finder to foster if they can. Otherwise, it is impossibe for them to rehome the bunny without anyone fostering it.
As for Pet Worldmart, you can try. But I just got to know that the owner's wife is sick and the shop is not open for the time being. Adrian will go in to feed and clean the dogs and cats daily. So I am not sure if he is able to cope with rehoming bunny now.
And we all know, rehoming a local bunny takes a long time. It is not easy. Just ask around ppl that you know, how many of them like to keep a bunny? Even if they do, there maybe objection from family members. just like your bf case.
If you intend to do your self rehoming, be prepared to keep her for sometime (1-6 mths) till you find the bunny a good home. By then you probably grew so attached to her that you are feeling too sad to part with her

Aiyo..Cottontail, U know hor, my bf's dad is very violent! Threatened to dump the rabbit yesterday and wanted to pick her up. Then my bf threatened to fight with him. The whole family quarrlled in the middle of the night. Shouted so loud that the neighbours confirm can hear.
Then today, the mom passed my bf $100 to buy cage. But I am still evry worried. Worried that she wants to leave the bun's cage outside near the garden but with shelther. The dog is staying there too. I am worried that she will get traumatised... Very confused oso... Now he can keep bun but the bun will be traumatised. I think better ask him to make a better decision.
If really have to leave outside, where the dog stays hor, I'd advise him to give up for adoption or put to zzz. I really hate to think that the rabbit will be traumatised for her entire life. I have no friend who wants bunny and even have a friend who intends to give up. Haiz... messy. If Pets World Mart is not open, I think bf and me can wait. But just worried abt his parents.
I am unsure if the bunny is toilet trained. Actually intending to get a plastic base cage. But I am worried that it might be difficult to clear the cage and she might dirty the cage if she isn't toilet trained. I am trying to make her cage and herself as clean as possible so as not to face rejection by his parents. Also to prevent my bf's dad from finding more problems!
SO I might be getting a metal base but will put bathroom mat on top. Just a question... can a metal base cage last long? As in... will it get rusty if stained with urine? Bf and myself will toilet train her soon. She is adult liaoz, might take a long time right? What is ur suggestion? Metal based/Plastic based better?
I hope my bf will be able to persuade his mom to leave the cage at the 2nd level corridor which is quite cramp. So most prob will get a 2ft cage. But the bun will be let out everytime bf is home. But if the bun is to be house outside the hse, then will get a 3ft or 4ft cage cos more space.

Hi highheels, I am not surprised about what your bf's father wanted to do - throw away the bunny. My friend has encountered someone who wanted to dump 2ND & 2 lop ear bunnies into the HDB refuse chute. But was stopped in time. You see, all kind of ppl in this world. Even pedigree are not spare once ppl grew out of interest in the pet anymore. That's why owning a pet is a family thing. If someone at home object, it will be very tough. That's y SPCA interview the whole family of the adopters. However, we seem to see a gleam of light now. Your bf's mom offered to buy a cage for this cute little one. I hope as time goes, the sweetness of this little bunny will win everyone's heart. Especially your bf's father. Ok. back to sheltering part. Well, if she is confined properly, it is ok to be left outdoor temporarily. Though it is not ideal to leave a rabbit outdoor at night without supervision. Just make sure that you have extra barricade (like play pen, wire fencing) outside her cage so that the dog cannot reach her. And beware of stray cats also. Cover the cage with plastic sheet incase of rain and strong wind. But must leave some ventilation. Or if possible, bring the rabbit indoor at night. (at kitchen or somewhere enclosed) If the bunny is not toilet trained, a wired bottom cage is less messy. At least, the bunny won't get to lie on its urine & dirty its fur. But do rememeber to place bathroom mat on the cage so that the bunny is more comfortable to lie down. Provide a litter box at one corner. You can buy one slightly bigger than A4 from any shops that sell plastic ware. I would recomemed you buy a cage at least 21/2 feet or bigger. A 2 feet cage plus litter box left with very pathetic space for bunny to move about. I recently bought a 3 ft chrome cage (wire bottom) for ard $70 at S'goon Nth. So your $100 is a very good budget. Still got surplus to buy BC litter Oh yes, chrome cage will get rusty at the bottom but are very lasting also. If you can, just wipe the cage bottom with damp cloth frequently to prevent it from rusting. Some abandoned one that I picked are kind of toilet train instantly. They know how to use the litter box. Only with occasional pee outside the box. I hope today is a new begining for this sweet bunny. And I really hope that they can become you and your bf's pet. I can see that you like her a lot. And more especially, this bunny is really tame and gentle. If you have any questions, pls feel free to ask.

Hahaha.. yah lor, the bun is very tamed leh. Was surprised that she is so tamed. Allows me to turn her upside down, let her lie on my lap and inspect if she is a male or female many times. So far.. still not sure. HAHAH!!! Must go online to see if there is any pictures.
Chrome cage is those black ones issit? What colour huh? Me duno what is chrome also. Which shop did u get it?
My bf's mom has this A4 size thingy which can be used as a litter tray but the bottom has holes. In fact, all around the container has holes! I am pondering if I should use newspaper to cover the bottom then use BC on top of it. Do u think it's feasible?
yah his neighbour rears a cat which always run into his house area one. I think by housing her in a cage should be fine right? Just worried that she will be terrorized by the cat and dog. Sometimes got bird and frogs also. Cos they rear frogs let them run around the garden.

You can see this link to determine the rabbits's gender. members.aol.com/roniebunny/ng.htmlA chrome cage is those silver, stainless steel color type. The black one is electroplated. Not sure about hay rack price. coz there are many different types so the price vary. I don't use hay rack. I lay the hay on the litter box. So as the eat the hay, they pee and poo also. This is so far one of the best way to litter train a rabbit. I would think it cheaper for you to get a litter box. Can litter train and at the same time serve as a hay tray. I guess you can use your existing box which has holes. Can try to line newspaper at the bottom first. But urine might seep thr though

peeing on the tray will make room stink very easily. and the cage will rust easily. which means it will not last very long.
i still feel having bedding and litter tray is a better choice.
can control better on smell and cage can last longer. that way, the chances that his parents make noise about the smell and hygiene and flies will be lower.
