Well,as i've say in an earlier threads....all u could do is to give "good advice".....but u can't force her to take the "good advice" given & as long as your conscience is clear when u have tried your best,no one except herself is to be blame....& every mistakes in life comes with a consequence.....that's if u believe in "retribution" or in a christian's point of view,"reaping what u have sow".....don't worry too much,k? haiz....

another one of those "it's cute, it's cheap, it's only a rabbit, only need to feed food and water, what's the hassle?"
this thing is very dangerous.. must warn her bout bunny growing up and all the resposibility, if she can say yuck, it's better to tell her not to keep, i don want to hear more abandon rabbit cases again..

Ya, I'm wondering how old this girl is also. lolz Actually, you can try to put her off I suppose. But maintain contact just to find out whether she does get the bunny. My younger cousin alwiz pesters me to give her animals. Even when I want to sell or give away my pets, I'd never consider her. She is only Pri 1 or 2 now, still too young. She'll actually insist and keep asking, until I'll ask her to tell me what she knows abt the pet, and what she has to do to give it care. She'll recite some stuff, and mumble what she knows, but it's very little. I told her "No! You cannot keep. You dunno what to feed and you want to keep in a tiny cage? And you want to keep carrying it with you here and there? No. Cannot, maybe next year. See how much you learn next year."
My mum tries to make me give her a pet, but I'll argue with her and then she'll drop the topic. I guess it's true that it's quite difficult to give advice to children who cannot understand the responsibility involved. It's like a toy to them, not a living thing.

unless the child has a parent with relevant knowledge about the pet and is willing to teach the child about responsibility.
like that still ok.

ghost >> me dunno the parentage arh, this is 19 yr old ger told me she noe nuts bout bunnies. i only told her to read up more bout lops. i oso wanna keep lops, but its too big, sure kena scolding by daddy one. Jellybean has mentioned in one thread b4 that this girl is 19. So she should be matured enough to understand about pet's commitment. Provided she can be committed and responsible....she can read up and learn more about keeping a bunny as she goes along. Hope that she is not getting a pet out of impulse or peer pressure.

TELL UR FREN DUN GET THE BUNNY !! iT'S OBVIOUS SHE LIKE IT 4 IT'S CUTENESS !! n imagine getting a pet out of total ignorance of the commitment involved . Ask her 2 read up on the proper care of bunny including the cleaning n more cleaning if she's prepared 4 all tt . Mayb get her 2 adopt instead ....... she's not ready 2 care 4 a baby bunny as they required more care as compared 2 a older 1 ! Nowadays whenever i came across a kid wit parents at petshop wanting 2 get a bunny ..... i alw. tell them bunny should not b caged but instead .... prepared 2 spend time trainning them n nev. ever. cage them up all day n 2 treat them like dogs n cats !! meaning let them 've free run of the house or part of it !!. Came across a mother ..... was totally shocked after learning tt i rarely cage up my bunny n she 've the whole dinning 2 herself !!! As 2 her ..... her kid's bunny been caged since young n nev heard of toilet-trainning !!!!!! n she's thinking of getting another 1 !! All i can do is ask her 2 check out the web n learn more abt ' HOUSE RABBIT ! ' .... So ....... if ur fren insists on getting it .... PLEASE GET HER 2 READ UP ON IT !!!

Tell u something,i've friends who wish to adopt bunnies too,but i was reluntant to recommened her to come to GT to adopt one or even recommend those who wish to rehome them to my friend....know y??cos i also wants those bunnies to go to "good homes"..... My boss's daughter who is abt 5 years old bought a baby bunny & it died after 2 days...she's crying over it,but i didn't bet my boss any bunnies...know y?Becos i don't trust her daughter handling bunnies that young....tho her previous bunny's death isn't her fault....think the bun is really very very young when she bought it....think shld start a new topic on how to take care of young bunny & how to take care of mature bunny huh?? hmm.....

My classmates are the same. They are 17-18 yr olds, and they can ask me why I let my bunny out for floortime. They said, "So dirty! It will p0o and pee everywhere!" And I said she's toilet-trained, they give me this blank look. Huh? Rabbits can be toilet-trained? They all started laughing and said I'm nuts. They said rabbits are too stupid, how to learn? I got angry, but I really dunno what to say to them, cos these pp are really obtuse. Makes me want to scream at the top of my voice.

Ya, they think rabbits are stupid. They also think that other pp's hamsters and cats are stupid too. 1 of my classmate keeps dwarf hamsters like me. She said hers were toilet-trained, and she made it sound like a miracle. Then she proudly declared that her hamsters are very smart, and other hamsters dun do that. I felt a little ill thinking abt the way these pp think. I actually suggested she surf pet forums, it'll open her eyes to a whole different world. She said she's too busy, no time. -_-;
I tried to convince them that rabbits can be toilet-trained, but I dun think I was successful. Their thinking is quite set in stone. And these pp can score As in their schoolwork, doing so much better than me. It puzzles me how come they think this way.
