Well maybe some of you might know me i'm known as Lostone but my account was deleted cos never use too busy ok,i'm now thinking of getting a rabbit a dwarf species preferably a minilop but can't seem to find them in petshops i don't think HRSS would have them cos they're quite expensive(so no ne would abandone them unless they're rich).........ok,this is my plan first get a cage:i found a marchioro cage with plastic grids and i wanna buy it(is it ok cos i don't want my bunnies to get sore hocks) secondly get food:i saw hagen's pellet real cheap and i have been using hgen brand for my other pets.need advice:is it ok to use this brand.......please don't refer me to oxbow its not value for money......and timothy hay:found really really cheap hay at pet lovers pet shop at Tampines. $3.90 for one bag........its quality is ok not many brown but lots of green leaves. thirdly:get a rabbit.... Where can i find one that is either medium sized or small such as the dutch,netherland dwarf or the mini lop rabbit in Singapore pet shops near The eastern side?? (went to Pet Safari....saw a netherland Dwarf and a Jamura housed together $84 each....Wonder what is a Jamura breed anybody can explain)

Hi, There may not be any rabbits that you want for adoption from HRSS. But you can try their forum, there's someone looking for homes for 2 lop rabbits with free cage, food, bedding, etc. They must be adopted as a pair. The forum address is www.hrss.net/forumPls note that rabbits can live for up to 8 yrs so its a lot of commitment, plus sterlising them can cost a lot.

ok,i'm now thinking of getting a rabbit a dwarf species preferably a minilop but can't seem to find them in petshops i don't think HRSS would have them cos they're quite expensive(so no ne would abandone them unless they're rich).........ok,this is my plan u will be surprised to learn that singaporeans are that filthy rich that they dumped pedigrees rabbits like lops, angoras, NDs etc first get a cage:i found a marchioro cage with plastic grids and i wanna buy it(is it ok cos i don't want my bunnies to get sore hocks) proper care and diet also play a part in whether the buns get sore hocks or not. even hard flooring can cause sore hocks. u can also use wire bottom cage but muz put rubber mats. secondly get food:i saw hagen's pellet real cheap and i have been using hgen brand for my other pets.need advice:is it ok to use this brand.......please don't refer me to oxbow its not value for money......and timothy hay:found really really cheap hay at pet lovers pet shop at Tampines. $3.90 for one bag........its quality is ok not many brown but lots of green leaves. my personal preference is oxbow and apd pellets, as they are the only two brands that has timonthy based pellets which is good for the adult buns (high in fibre). feed a variety of hays like oat hay, orchard grass, timonthy hay etc as this is the main staple of a bun diet. thirdly:get a rabbit.... Where can i find one that is either medium sized or small such as the dutch,netherland dwarf or the mini lop rabbit in Singapore pet shops near The eastern side?? (went to Pet Safari....saw a netherland Dwarf and a Jamura housed together $84 each....Wonder what is a Jamura breed anybody can explain) do consider adopting a rabbit intead of buying. do write to hrss and ask if they've the species you want, who knows.

no,Ghost this thread is not for adopting bunnies but on advice about them like thier food,type of cage and where i could get them.I did not delete my account but becos i never use my account for so long therefore i think it got deleted................
sure i wish to adopt rabbits.....thanks for the info vanessang and sanz33.
Sanz33 how much does APD cost compared to Oxbow are they the same or one is cheaper than the other.
I need to know all this stuff before getting a rabbit cos a pet is a life not a toy so i can't give up on it halfway need to know everything before getting one.This is the purpose of this thread Ghost.
And yes i'm suprised that Singaporeans are rich enough to give away their pedigree bunnies........Jujst went to the HRSS forum and saw NDs.and lops being abandoned..........
by the way,is a bunny the same as a cat and dog ie:the amount of affection they can give you and you give them.unlike fishes or tortoises........

APD pellets is much more expensive than Oxbow. I normally feed Oxbow basic T becos I have too many buns at home, can't afford APD for long term. Other than pellets cost, there are hay and veggies that you need to feed also. For adult rabbits (6 mths & abv) you have to include fresh veggies in thier diet so do consider the cost of veggies as well. For me, I feed pellets once a day only. Abt 2-3 table sp-oon per bunny so pellets can actually last very long. As for veggies, now NTUC is selling M'sia veggie at $0.40 a pack. So it's quite affordable also. Rabbits can be very affectionate pet. But of course, they are not like dog which will run to you when you come home (but some do). How much affection they give you also depend on how we interact with them. I find that bunny who gets free roaming and live in the living area with the family members will interact better with their human companion. Believe me, bunny can actually communicate well with human too. They can tell you they are happy, sad, angry or hungry.....

I agree with Cottontail's statement. My bunnies are communicating well with us. The minutes I step in to the hall, they will rush to me and smell my pants, and try to stand like human and begging for treats. when I sit in hall and watching tv, they will lean by my side and asking for stroke/petting...... yeah, I would say they are affectionate.

i got these prices off an online store;
1. American Pet Diner Timmy for Rabbits, 24oz (1lb = 16oz) S$12.70 2. Oxbow Bunny Basics T™, 10lbs S$21.90
u can see from the above comparison, apd is very much more ex than oxbow.
