Boars may sometimes be aggressive, but sows are more tolerant together. Sometimes kept with rabbits, but greatly discouraged due to different diet needs. Appeal : Ideal children's pets, becoming very tame if handled regularly from an early age. Can be kept in an indoor or outdoor hutch. Diet : Commercially prepared guinea pig food, vegetables and hay. Health Problems : Especially vulnerable to skin ailments, often due to vitamin C deficiency. Also vulnerable to skin mites. Breeding Tips : Sows must be mated relatively young to minimise likelihood of subsequent birthing problems.
