there are lots of sites that mention about what to and what not to feed your doggie fren there... but to play safe, stick to dog food which are usually vet approved. Rice is a strict no-no, so for those who are looking at saving your money by feeding your doggies rice, please dun even buy a dog.

why is rice a nono? but u hear so much of ppl feeding rice and the dogs being healthy and all? rice acts like a filler... like corn meal for example... As dogs need vitamins, or rather a balance diet like humans, rice does not provide for that. Many people tend to feed rice cos' it is rather inexpensive... and most of all, it fills up the doggies' tummy. but i would sincerely advised against giving 80% rice for a doggy's diet lor.

but sadly... many pple feed rice to their dogs as a staple diet... and just cos' its cheaper... Some pple feed rice mixed with canned dog food, which isn't advisable either cos' it doesn't provide for the nasic necessity of nutrients and a well-balanced diet. Others feed canned dog food, cos' they want them dogs to have variety... but for goodness sake, dun buy cheap canned food laced with salt (as a preservative) or high in animal by-products (heart, spleen, liver, etc), cos' it just ain't healthy. The best diet is by far a good, reliable brand of dry dog food which provides for all the necessary nutrients that a dog needs.

Eep, cannot eat rice? My bf's dog is on rice and meat. Argh, the horrible thing is that he and his mum don't believe me when I tell them all these facts! Really. Am serious. Already tried talking to them about cooked bones and grapes (grapes and raisins are all serious NOS for a dog also), but they refuse to listen to me. They say I'm too sensitive and I shldn't believe everything I read.

Aiyo, that's bad. That means I won't be able to persuade them. Cos I can't throw tantrum at them right? They'll think I'm crazy and still won't listen.

Sometimes I watch their dog eat, and pp can tell from my expression that it's very umm, like annoyed la. Cos I'm staring at the dog so intensely that my bf asked what's wrong. I mumbled that I'm waiting for her to die from the splinters. He got very annoyed with me. I kept quiet after that and just keep watching their dog lor. I did mention that operation sure cost alot one, but they just keep thinking that nothing will go wrong with their dog. Then I said, what if cannot save? What if she died? They look dam irritated with me. Anyway, I'll still continue my efforts, but I'll tell you truthfully, it's very difficult to change his mum's mind. She has her mind set on the thinking that bones are safe. Another time, we ate KFC at home. She asked me to give all my leftover bones to the dog, if there is a little meat on it. I purposely gobbled all the meat off the bone, making sure it's very clean and got nothing left for the dog, so I cld throw away the bone. But the other kids got some meat left over, so they gave it to the dog.
