Thank you clover for sharing. The part on the ill treated chins are especially astonishing. I'll make sure that i do not buy chins from them. Perhaps I can make a trip down to Pet ingdom at Upp Thomson since they sell hamsters stuffs.

Discounts and you're happy Animosity??? There's this thing about real discounts and fake discounts. Many shop establishments mark up the price of their items by 15-20% above the RRP, then they give their customers about 10%, sometimes even 20% if you're regular, but at the end of the day, you're just buying at the normal RRP Alot of us shop, and dun realise how much we've spent, all we look at is the discounts offered. I used to shop this style too. AS long as got discounts, then i buy lor... but after me meet my gf, i learn to be more thrifty... also, having been in the pet trade, i realised that the so called discounts are just ways and means to get more business.... Like for Serangoon North, the smaller shops do indeed give true discounts, and the prices do work out to be alot cheaper. But shops like L*P*S are those that sell based on how u look, u look rich or express great interest on the pet or product, then the price u buy is more expensive Shops around town area also have the practice for false discounts. If you really sit down and calculate what you have bought today, you'll realise that you have been cheated. Tat's why I offer my own products as a true lower rate than others out there, unless it is something I do not specialise in, then the prices would more or less be the RRP (cos' i dun buy in bulk, and cannot enjoy further discounts from other suppliers)

highheels> Yes, it's actually quite shocking. I can illustrate a point. When in 1999, I first bought my chins from them, they actually 'taught' me stuff.
They taught me to catch my chin by grasping it by the base of the tail and hauling it out of the cage. They say this ensures that I catch it. But I found my chins aggressive when I did that. They wld bite and snap at me and Slappy wld spray pee whenever I went near her. I also did see the sales guy do that when he wanted to show me the chins.
Later on, months later, I met another chin owner and asked her abt it. She was a lady who bought her chin from Pet Kingdom. She was shocked by what I said abt handling chins. But before she started scolding me or anything, she said, "Wait a min, let me guess, you bought your chins from Park Chinchilla in Crown Centre right?" I said yes. She shook her head and told me I was very unfortunate and all the things I knew were wrong.
She told me abt Pet Kingdom and told me to go buy books abt chinchillas (not easy to find still). Then she told me to check the internet. She also spoke to me abt handling and so I knew, it really hurts my chins when I catch them the way I was taught. No wonder they hate me. That's why I feel angry when I think abt that shop. They hurt chins and teach their customers to do it too.
I also have a few chin frens who had previous dealings with them. They kept trying to sell a sick chin to one of them. Luckily, she knew something abt chins, so she absolutely refused to buy, even when they lowered the price alot. The chin had a wet nose and the top part of the nose was dropping fur. It's so obvious! So I actually really dislike them. But you know, I just hate it that there are still pp who patronise them, and that their business is doing well.

Aiyo.. wat Clover mentioned is definitely very shocking! I can't imagine myself grapping any animals by their tails. Cos I think no animals would like people to even touch their tails. Think Park Chinchilla is using that method to catch hold of the chins easier??? I think the chins there are really ill treated. Perhaps the staffs also dunno that they were doing the wrong thing. Maybe one person claimed to be very experienced taught the rest of the staffs and everyone there just followed this method.
As for petshop jacking up the prices and then pretending to give discounts, I am aware of that. If u frequently shop for pet stuffs in different shops, u'll be able to tell whether they r giving true dicounts or not. One petshop at Upp Thomson Plaza is marking up the price and then faking discounts... even after discount, the items are still quite expensive.
Wah! Can't believe that the bunny food can cost $45!!!! Did they place the wrong price tag?!?!!?!?!?

Chinchillas may have spots on their ears as a part of their colouring. It depends on their colour. As you may have seen the pics of the beige chinchillas in our forum. They have dark brown or black spots on their ears, some beige chins even have them on their noses. This is a part of their colour pigmentation and is not a sign of illness or disease.
