Bees will sting pp in defense of their hives lor. Yes, they'll definitely die after stinging you, cos their stings are hooked, and when pulling away, it pulls away part of their body. Hence, they die. It's a sacrifice on the part of the soldier bee, to protect the hive. Furthermore, the part left in the sting, will continue to inject venom into the wound, making it swell in reaction.
I learnt all this once when watching a documentary abt bees (yes, my hair was standing the entire 1 hr, and I was chewing on my blanket in fear, ready to duck under the blanket if they got close ups of the bees). And also, to tell you all the truth, I was also stung by a hornet before! Yes, I know, you guys will be incredulous, like, how come I'm so stupidly unlucky!? But it's true, and that happened when I was very young! I was a toddler. This one I dun remember, my mum was the one who told me.
She brought me out, and put me down at the bus-stop to sit down. She didn't see the green hornet on the seat and placed me right on top of it. I jumped up and screamed and started crying. She brought me to the nearest clinic and the doctor gave me an injection. I dun remember any of this, but my mum told me that it was very painful, I kept crying and from then on, she wld alwiz check seats carefully before dumping me on them. Crazy right? I mean, who gets stung by these insects so often? Plus, mosquitoes love me too. They alwiz leave my bf alone and come and suck my blood instead of his. This is nuts lor.
Hornets are actually dangerous, more so than bees, cos they are considered more aggressive. Furthermore, their stings are straight. Which means, they dun die after stinging you once, if they so wish, they can sting you again and again, until they have had enough fun stinging you. Wasps are the same case, that's why when I see one, I also run like mad. Yes, I admit I'm unlucky when it comes to these stinging insects lor. And just to tell you all, my mum told me I had to get an injection on my bum for the hornet sting, cos it stung me on the bum thru my shorts. Like, argh!!
I'm not saying all this to discourage you all. You all of course just continue going to Botanic Gardens. I'm just explaining why I got phobia of Botanic Gardens. So I really scared, dun dare to go. And finally, one last thing that happened to me today, first day I go back to school. I was attacked by a large spider, while standing outside the school auditorium! It was 1/4 the size of my palm and dropped down onto my hand from on top. I glanced down at the tickle and saw it. And of course, I screamed and batted it away and jumped in fright. Yeah, just a great way to start school again, embarass myself in front of schoolmates.
And now, I'm never going to stand outside the auditorium ever again. If I have to go thru the door, I'll run.
