BaoBao's Lump has worsen,i think....& i think the lumps is cancerous....i had a feeling that he's having the same condition as BeiBei who died of a lump on his neck (they are both brothers).....with bloodstains on his mouth & nose..... BaoBao's current condition is...he is not very active for the past few days....drink as usual, eat as usual, but the thing is,he somehow slim down a lot....& he used to have a big batch of pee on one side of the corn cobs beddings, but for the last 7 days....no batches of urine can be seen.... Just now when i went to see him (at 2am)...i saw blood on his front & back paws....his back body hunching upward....& seems to move on tip-toe....he kept biting/licking his right paw too....i change his beddings immediately....change his food in his food tray...give him a 5 min sand bath....apply some zambuk on his lump & add anti-biotic on his water bottle....will keep him monitor for the next few days & his water, food & anti-biotic drink will be changed daily....i really hope nothing bad will happen to him....am keeping him in prayers....& he is only 2 years old only....haiz.... One more thing forget to mention, tho he is in-active...when i carry him up the running wheel jus now,he can still runs on it.... Anyone has smilar problem before?Pls do share it out.....i'm looking into this, hoping can cure my w.w. sapphire,BaoBao....

He was presribe some Anti-Inflammation solution & Anti-Biotic....to be taken twice a day....hope he can recover cos i think he is currently feeling uncomfortable & can't drink & eat well.....

The vet once told me that the mot impt thing is to make sure ur ham drink and eat. If he cant eat well, U may wan to feed him with the baby food and do remember to syringe feed him with some water occasionally.

Hey Ghost, why did the vet cut his tooth? What happened? Below is his 2 main problem...Teeth ProblemsThe incisor (front, gnawing) teeth grow continuously for the life of the hamster (this is true for all rodents). They receive continuous wear as the uppers and lowers contact each other, preventing overgrowth. Misalignment of either the upper or lower incisors because of previous injury, abscess formation of malnutrition may result in overgrowth of one or more of the teeth. Overgrown incisor teeth usually cause serious injury to the roof of the mouth. Sometimes the lower incisors actually grow through the roof of the mouth and into the nasal cavity! Initial signs of this problem are inappetence and drooling. Total lack of eating, weight loss, and a foul odor from the mouth may be noted later. These signs often are completely overlooked.
A veterinarian must carefully trim the overgrown incisors and extract them from the roof of the mouth. Antibiotics are prescribed because of the high probability of infection following this type of injury. Periodic trimming of the incisors is usually necessary for the remainder of the hamster's life.
Some popular hamster houses made of plastic had holes in the horizontal and vertical tubes originating from the main rectangular enclosure. Hamsters frequently caught and broke their incisors in these holes in the plastic. The holes have since been made smaller by the manufacturer, and this injury is seen less frequently now.
[/img] Abscesses are most often caused by bite wounds from fighting. These wounds become infected, forming abscesses that appear as firm, painful lumps under the skin. Abscesses from injuries other than bite wounds may be indistinguishable from those that result from fighting. Abscesses of one or both cheek pouches are also very common among pet hamsters. These commonly result from penetrating wounds to the lining of the pouch caused by harsh foods or bedding materials. It may be very difficult for you to know whether a swelling in the area of the cheek pouch is an abscess or simply food or bedding being temporarily stored within the pouch. Generally speaking, the swelling resulting from a cheek pouch abscess persists, but a pouch swelling from stored food or bedding disappears when the animal empties its cheek pouch.
If an abscess is detected or suspected, the abscess must be opened and the pus drained or removed by a veterinarian. An appropriate antibiotic also will be prescribed. Further, the underlying cause(s) for the abscess must be eliminated, if possible.
ghost > if it's really abscess hor, then really worrying. puppy has abscess prob lor. and there's no cure. can only try to prevent it from getting worse 'cause the bacteria got to his jaw bones alr. at least for rabbits, we still can give injections + medicine to them. dunno if hamsters can take it or not.

Picture of baby food. You may get this or other flavours to feed ur sick hamster. Btw, Maomao went to get his tooth trimmed today leh! He lost weight and I always see him nibbling food! But his food dish is always left with so much food. So I suspected that he isn't eating well. Sent him to Namly and was discovered that his tooth is overgrown and nearly grow into his upper gum! Gonna bring him back in 3 or 4 weeks time to check his tooth again.
