Watch the clips below... mail1.nhu.edu.tw/~u9111004/back_fli...back_flip21.wmvSeen a Campbell who do backward somersault before...it problably looks cute, but for your info,it's a genetic defects....i don't know the right word to describe,it's jus like Head-Tilt on a bunny, the hams isn't doing the back-somersault on its own accord.... Do u guys come across any hamsters that do back-flipping?If so,do share....thanks!

Think there is an old thread on this topic as I remembered seeing it somewhere... seemed like some defect in the brain which is causing the hammies to behave like this...

From what i know...it's similar to Head tilt on a Bunny....some kind of diases in the ear or something....it's a genetic defects that don't happen to all hamsters tho.....

I heard from a fewhamsters breeders that they have a "back flipping" hamsters too.Even thought it's a genetic problem, but the next generation wasn't affected with this "back-flipping" symptoms.
I wonder if any hamster-lovers here have seen the video clips that ghost put up on the first post?

Yes, think we did discuss abt this before. Like I mentioned, pacing back and forth is also a kind of defect. I once saw a campbell who kept pacing back and forth in pets village. These hammies are pitiful cos they cant control their behaviour.

isn't defects caused by in-breeding I guess that's only part of the answers. From the video,if you are the ham,i guess you'd problably be feeling lousy when you cannot control and keeps on flipping backward.Cross breeding is also part of the cause too. Just like human being who cannot control their nerve system and keep moving about whenever you try to keep STILL.

Pacing back and forth may not be a defect. May be juz the ham is interested by whatever thats happening outside.its the running in circles which u hav to take note.
But the pacing back and forth if done constantly without stop then maybe take note abit..
sometimes they smell something they like they will stand and smell till fall on their back. its normal...
