I noticed that one of my puddings who nails are getting longer had some difficulties when he walk or run. One of the nails in fact grew sideway to one side so that it is like curling to one side.... Anyone else have such problems?

eh my puddings that i adopted from clover will also hav long nails once in a while. Better cut bcos if too long it may cut into their footpads which will cause pain.

I managed to trim my hamsters' nails on my own lor. Need patience and yes, a glove incase they bite u.They can be quite flexible when turning their heads to bite u! Try to coax them with food. If they struggle, I'll put a bigger piece of groundnut into their mouth (they dun keep into pouch cos I'm already holding them). So harder for them to bite! Must wait for the rite timing and snip off the nails when u feel tt they'll not struggle or pull away their paws. Sometimes I manage to snip off all at one go, but usu got to go for a few times b4 trimming all nails. Just need more experience and gut feeling.
