Very cute chin. Xue is right, there are no standards to training a chinchilla. It is totally dependent on how close the owner and the chin is. Also, the shop in Pet Safari belongs to Park Chinchilla. Umm, in my personal opinion, that trick of sitting on the shoulder is really no big deal. I've seen Pet Kingdom's house pets do much more. Wewe was very acrobatic and loved being thrown into the air. He could almost touch the ceiling each time. My bf and I were very amazed when the sales guy showed it to us, and we've alwiz wanted to try it ever since. But slowly, and we'll start with small distances first. Lots of patience and love, I'll say. But I'm really happy to hear of your close relationship with your chin. That's really good.

xue > i like ur chin leh... like very soft and chubby... love the fur... clover > ur chin can almost touch the ceiling ah? wat if u didnt grab him and he land on the floor? that time i went to pet kingdom to see the chins. aiyo... they really can jump very high ah. like spring like that. scary... if i really keep them in my house hor, very scared they'll jump out of window leh. too springy liao. cannot rest in peace ah... my bf told me that chins are more responsive than bunnies. is it true? i personally still prefer bunnies 'cause their behaviour not so springy and sudden. but i love chins' fur. the ones i like are usu std grey. my bf said good 'cause std grey is the cheapest, so if want to get 1 for me hor, wont burn a hole in pocket.

Hi Xue, wau.... u got a cute std grey chin man. :-/So is baby ur 1st and only chin? hum.... he looks chubby Oh, my MaoMao is going to 2yrs old but then he looks tiny to me as compared to those in the Pet Kingdom. Address of the Pet Kingdom is 01 Thomson Ridge There got many chins for sale and they look very adorable My god... how I wish I can bring a few back man !!! but then the price are not cheap since most of them are imported. I intend to bring one more chin in to be MaoMao companion but have to wait for a year later.

hi Petslover,
Yup, he is my only chin which i have been looking after. may i know is there any buses to reach there as i thought of getting one female chin for him as he is fully grown. I can see that sometime, he is bored and how i wish i can get one for him but i agreed that Pet Kingdom's chins are expensive too although i never been there before. Do you know how much are they selling for overseas breeds and do they sell local breed?

We're still teaching him for short distances. Not yet so high that he touch the ceiling. Of course we must catch him no matter what! Can't let him fall on the ground. So dangerous and painful. Umm, I think that both chinchillas and bunnies are equally responsive, cos I keep both, haha. Pet Kingdom's main branch is at Lavender St. The one in Thomson is only a smaller shop by them. If you want to see their house pets, go to Lavender better. I went to Thomson recently and found out they're stock-taking. Their house pets are currently at Lavender. The Thomson branch house pet, Wewe, a silver white male, has been sold. He was sold to a regular customer of Pet Kingdom, after much discussion between the customer and Pet Kingdom. Pet Kingdom actually held a private auction for their regular customers for Wewe, only to those customers they're more familiar with. Cos these pp know Wewe better. And you know, he was sold for a whopping $1,800! My bf and I were very shocked, but we knew it's true he's worth it. Cos he's very well-trained and very lovely. We were told a lady bought him, and he's living in a gigantic cage, leading a very luxurious life now. Pet Kingdom told us they were very happy this lady won the auction, cos she is very good with chins and really gives them the best she can afford. Now, they only have 2 house pets left, I think. I asked abt Phantom again (of course, he's my dream chinchilla!). They said he's not for sale at a low price, cos he's been at Pet Kingdom for so long that they've grown very attached to him. They made him a house pet and will not sell him until they decide someone who can give him a very good life comes along. So I think that he's still worth $3,600. But they'll prob push the price up after they made him a house pet. If you all want to buy chins and want to get them a bit cheaper, I recommend home breeders. There are some home breeders in Sg with superb babies for sale. The parents are imported from US, or bought from Pet Kingdom. And you pay lesser than when you approach a pet shop. Pet Kingdom does sell local bred chins cheaper, but they dun often have locals for sale. They import their stock mostly. Sometimes, they have locals for sale, cos their customers' chins gave birth. Then the pp sell to Pet Kingdom, who in turn sells the locals cheaper. I generally dun encourage bringing chins out for outings. Cos when I brought my chins to the vet, the vet alwiz asked me to make things as fast and keep the outing as short as possible. Cos it causes stress to the chin. They are not used to being handled by strangers and dun welcome it. Dr Ling didn't want to examine my Snowball too much for this reason. He never bit her or anything, but she believes it's stressful for him to be held and carried by someone he doesn't know, plus in a strange foreign environment. And I agree with her, also that's why I dun bring my chins out. Pink whites are very beautiful yes. They are quite expensive cos it's not easy to get that colour. You must have the right genetic combi. Pet shops are selling pink whites for more than $1000. But I know a home breeder selling for less than that. And hers are very beautiful. Local bred chins and imported chins are not a different breed. They are the same breed of chinchillas. What we mean is that the locals are born in Sg while the imported ones are not. That's all. Of course, generally, locals are a lower quality than imported chins. But if the local baby has outstanding parents, then most prob, the quality will be on par with an imported chin. I have seen very beautiful local babies before. The good care from the owner is also an important aspect.

hi Petslover,
thanks for the addresses that you have given me. I really appreciated it.
I also agree that both local and overseas breeds are the same. Most importantly, they must be healthy and active chins. However, if i were to get chin, i don't think i will get it from the Park Chin as i feel that they didn't really take good care of their chins. This is why i'm very particular abt that when buying a chin.
