not all chins are expensive. It depend on the seller and the type of breed (local/overseas) and colour that you wanted to buy. Some chin sellers sell their chin for $150 or more.
Home breeders sell their chins very reasonable whereas shop selling at high prices.

Hmm....i was calculating....an average chin cost abt $150.....then their cage cost ard like $200.....that'd add up like $350 liao.....not counting their food bowl, their water bottle & their food.....think to get a chin, need to spend a minimum of ard $400++ lei.....

haha...... Ghost, their neccesities are more expensive than the price of the local chin. Indeed $400++ is alot.
I bought April's cage for $170 at Pet Safari and bought her for $150. The bowls (one for pellet and the other one for hays) cost about $16 and the little house costs about $30. The ferplast medium water bottle costs about $8+.
If you intend to buy the necessities, let me know as i'm a member of Pets Lover Centre, having a discount of 5%. I also hear that they are going to increase the discount to 10% soon. Therefore, should be able to help you to save costs.

all these photoes are taken last week. It's the fur that is thick that makes him fat and big. Actually he is standard size (1/2 kg) if you carry and see it personally. I actually took that photo when he was eating hay and he's kpo, seeing me what i'm doing.

i have one in my house but i prefer to use the digital type. This sat i'm bringing them for checkup, therefore, will be requesting to weight them to see how heavy they are.
