I use pets preference. It works very well for me. Soft, paper based bedding. But those who are litter trained only use the litter pan, so I don't pour all over the base for them.

I use newspaper & lay a grid over it... tiz is bcoz they eat watever bedding i put... They generally dont smell if they live in airon room. But need to clean the cage regularly.

Actually, chins are very clean animals. Mine really dun smell at all, I clean their cages weekly. The only smell from their cages is the smell of the dusty paper bedding, a bit of ink smell. There is no poo or pee smell for me. These days, due to the hot weather, I actually turn on the air-con in the night for them, occasionally. I have to do it sneakily coz my mum might object. lolz I must wake up early to turn off before she wakes up too, haha.

hi,
I use wood shaving for my chin previously. I heard that it's not that wise to use that for chinchilla. Then i change it to Kaytee Kaycob. But look like i'm going to change it to aspen as he is eating a little of kaycob which may result in indigestion.

huh.... kaycob get moists easily? For this i'm not quite sure as i clean his urine tray with fresh kaycob twice a day.
I spend about $50 on his bedding per month. I heard that using aspen is more absorbent. However, i have not try it before.

i'm also not quite sure but not all type of wood shaving are good for them esp pine shaving which is toxic to them. i guess this is why my vet discourage me from using this.

I dun use beddings for my chins at all coz I bought the cage with a tray underneath. I prefer that where it makes the cleaning easier. Juz change the newpaper and wash the tray every 2-3 days. As for the cage, I did the washing for about once a month.
I did use KayTee CornCob for the hamster before. My comments is the corncob get moist after a week and it smells. Now I switch to BC-cat litter for my hammies.
